According to TechCrunch' report, AKQA, a digital product agency, has trained an AI with data from 400 existing sports to invent a sport. The result is a completely new game called "Speedgate" which is a combination of rugby, soccer, and Quidditch.

This game seems to be familiar but bizarre at the same time. In Speedgate, there will be 2 teams. Each consists of six players, including three defenders and three strikers. They will have to pass, kick or throw the ball into one of the three gates placed at two ends of the field. The players are not allowed to push the opponent and have to avoid the middle gate. In each team, the defenders need to take turns to be in a gate.

There are many other games developed by AKQA algorithm and they were even more strange. AKQA's AI has made:

Scientists have spent a lot of time narrowing the list and do a bit of tweaking so that those sports can be played.
Besides giving ideas and rules, AKQA also uses AI to create the logos of different teams for this sport by feeding it with more than 10,400 available sports logos. It also gives ideas for interesting cheerleading slogans like "Face the ball to the ball to be above the ball." Not only that, AKQA held a Speedgate live demonstration in Portland last week.

The company also said that besides appearing at Design Week, Speedgate is believed to be in a discussion with the Oregon Sports Authority. And there are chances there will be an internal tournament for this game this summer.
