Ampaire Tested Biggest Electric Plane With Fuel Saving Hybrid Propulsion

Recently the race of creating the best electric plane is speeding up. This time we have Ampaire ( a company based in Los Angeles) claimed that they had achieved a fresh 1st ever in the business. On the 6th of this month, this electrical aviation company performed a test flight of their Ampaire 337 plane model. It is the electric-hybrid aircraft with highest-capacity ever took off. The plane flew over the Camarillo Airport.

The ultimate aim of Ampaire is to become the leader in the electrification race for private aircraft. And they also want to bring down the CO2 emissions from these "birds." To achieve that goal, instead of going with making their customized electric aircraft, they are retrofitting current passenger aircraft to go electric. The result is greener, quieter and more comfortable to control flights for passengers.

A different approach

For the June 6's test fight, they have reworked the Cessna Skymaster 337 with the six-seats capacity to make the Ampaire 337. They used electric propulsion proprietary of their own to fly the plane. It uses power coming from an onboard battery system. The aircraft had initially been two-engines, so Ampaire has replaced one of the combustion engines by an electric one. So the final product is a parallel-hybrid system of propulsion. According to Ampaire, this new hybrid system could help in reducing the emitted greenhouse gas significantly as well as saving on operation cost.

Going commercial in the next two years

With this successful flight test of the prototype, Ampaire is on its way to enter the commercial area with its interesting electric aircraft by 2021. Kevin Noertker ( Ampaire's CEO)  said that their flight would be quiet, inexpensive, and clean.
