Hundreds of Apple Watches were stolen from one of the Amazon Fulfillment Centers. But the thieves did not need to break into the place and just went straight through the front door since they were working there as employees.
Officials from Middletown Police Department said that an investigation was carried out right after they received information from Amazon Loss Prevention.
The group of suspects consists of four people. And the total value of all the products reaches $100,000. The police were able to retrieve some of the products, which are listed in the photo above.
The investigation pointed out that Isaac Francis, Tyaisha Butler, Taneesha Pinkett, and Shadaria Bell were the culprits. They supposedly worked together to steal the number of Apple Watches worth more than $100,000 in several months.
Three of them, Francis, Butler, and Pinkett were already arrested while the police are still actively looking for Bell.
The Middletown Police Department said:
However, the specific number of Apple Watches was not clarified.
Recovered merchandise includes at least one laptop, one iPad, and nine Apple Watches. Depending on the model, Apple Watches’ prices can vary from $199 to $440 on Amazon.
The four employees at Amazon Warehouse received two charges on theft and second-degree conspiracy.
This is not the first time Apple products are thieves’ targets because they are valuable and easy to be sold. There are even cases of people stealing the company’s products right from the store’s display area in front of the staff and other customers.
