Recently, researchers from UCSF and UC Berkeley have found a better solution just by improving the algorithm to detect brain hemorrhages. The key lies in how finely-detailed the training data was.
Accordingly, the process of generating algorithms based on a convolutional neural network consisting of over 4,000 CT scans. Despite the small size of samples, the abnormalities detected among the scans were so detailed that it could be observed at pixel levels. This will avoid false analysis or misinterpretation, especially for brain hemorrhage. AI support through training to observe part of an image instead of everything at one time can reduce the possibility that it will make false conclusions based on very small changes.
Although AI assistance is very important and effective in diagnosing the disease, it still cannot replace the position of the doctors. AI can quickly classify different types of hemorrhage within seconds after receiving the report. And this can save a lot of valuable time for doctors, especially in emergencies when patients have serious signs of a brain hemorrhage. In the future, when scientists finish testing algorithms against CT scans, the outcomes will probably be applied immediately to help doctors screen patients as well as concentrate on saving people’s lives.
