Up to 91% of Indians are using PCs with pirated copies of the Windows 10 OS and 85% of those include hazardous malware.

Using pirated Windows 10 isn’t a strange story in many countries, especially in Asia. This truth has been found by Microsoft when checking the use of pirated software in diverse markets in the world.

Microsoft revealed that at retail stores worldwide, almost all PCs and laptops are often installed the pirated copies of the Windows 10 OS.

The surprising information is given in a study that was published by Microsoft in the recent time. The study is based on the 166 computers running the Windows OS in 9 Asian countries that were sold for 3 months, from May 2018 to July 2018. The result makes us startled!

In all of these 9 countries, up to 83% of new computers from the different brands are pre-installed the pirated Windows 10 OS and, of course, malware.

That shows the extremely high copyright infringement of software available in some countries. Three of these countries are Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. Microsoft reported that the software piracy rate at the three countries reaches the maximum value: 100%.

Ranking at the second position is India with the rate of 91%. You should know that the software piracy rate is listed on the totally new PCs and laptops.

The story hasn’t ended yet! Of the abovementioned computers in India, there are up to 85% of PCs that are full of hazardous malware. It’s worth mentioning that when you run your PCs with such malware, you are likely to open the door to welcome hackers as well as bitcoin miners to attack your computers. Assistant General Counsel and Regional Director of Digital Crimes Unit in Asia - Mary Jo Schrade who work for Microsoft office in Singapore said.

Remember that free software isn’t really as attractive as you think! It may include some risky malware. Don’t expose all of your personal data to hackers through allegedly free software.
