China Mobile is working with the Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine to develop a remote monitor and observation system for patients contracted with Coronavirus that have severe symptoms using 5G and VR technology. This system was put to use on January 24.
At the emergency center of the hospitals, medical staff is using this technology to minimize direct contact with patients. Especially, experts and doctors from other regions can use a high-definition 360-degree imaging system to diagnose and treat patients. At the same time, the families of the patients can also observe them via this system.
Shaoxing City in Zhejiang has recently launched a cloud computing platform, allowing patients to receive treatment without having to queue at hospitals.
At the moment, besides Hubei, Zhejiang has the second-highest number of confirmed cases (724) of Coronavirus infection in China.
There are 17,373 confirmed cases with 362 deaths and 486 recoveries.
The virus is believed to have come from Wuhan’s Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, which is a trading place for wildlife. On 23 January, to prevent the virus from spreading, the Chinese authorities put the city under lockdown. Some airlines have also suspended their flights to mainland China.
Foreign nationals who are being evacuated from the city are being transferred into quarantine centers. The deadly virus has spread to 16 countries outside of China including Australia, Cambodia, Canada, France, Germany, Côte d'Ivoire, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the U.S, and Vietnam.
Researchers working at the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University have created a map to track the deadly virus.
From the map, you can know the total number of cases that have been confirmed worldwide and the total of recoveries and deaths. Cases are also broken down based on regions. There is also a graph plotting the reported cases.
