Divers have discovered a 400-year-old ship at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The ship was said to belong to the Dutch empire. Its condition was almost perfect. No one could figure out why and how it ended up sitting at the bottom of the sea.
The ship is known as a fluyt. It could carry loads of cargo to different parts of the world and with minimal crew. The ship used to be widely popular. However, there are only a few left in the world. That is why the sunken ship’s discovery is so important.

Only a small bit of the ship was damaged. And the cause of that is said to by trawler that has been netting over the years. So this would mean that when the ship sank, it was in great condition.
For Juha Flinkman from the diving team, it was a great surprise to discover the sunken ship.
According to Flinkman, the fluyt was a fundamental part of the Dutch Republic. During their time, these ships were very efficient.
