NASA To Visit An Asteroid So Valuable That It Can Make Everyone On Earth A Billionaire

The Hubble Space Telescope of NASA found out about an extremely valuable asteroid namely 16 Psyche, which is worth about $10,000 quadrillion.

The asteroid is around 370 million kilometers from Earth and measures 226 kilometers across. What sets it apart is what it’s made of.

Unlike other asteroids we have encountered before, which are either icy or rocky, 16 Psyche is entirely metal, much like Earth’s core.

According to Tracy Becker - a planetary scientist of Southwest Research Institute, one of the authors of the study, we have seen metal asteroids before but this one’s entirety might be nickel and iron.

The metal content of the asteroid means it could be worth 10,000 times the world’s economy in 2019.

Researchers used ultraviolet spectrum data collected by the Hubble Space Telescope to deduce that Psyche’s surface could be entirely iron.

Psyche will be analyzed further when NASA Discovery Mission Psyche is launched onboard SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket in 2022.

In January 2017, Lindy Elkins-Tanton, the lead scientist of the mission said the asteroid is unique in our solar system. This is also the only known to us to see a core.

16 Psyche is thought to be the core of a dead planet left behind after several violent collisions or a failure in the formation process.
