While Huawei and Samsung have already unveiled their Huawei Mate X and Samsung Galaxy Fold foldable devices, Xiaomi will also launch its foldable phone. According to a recent report, Xiaomi plans to unveil a foldable device in the second quarter of 2019. Recently, it has released a concept video of its upcoming foldable handset and announced its plans to gradually develop MIUI interface in a new way.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold costs US$1,980 (Rs. 140,000 roughly) while the Huawei Mate X has the price of US$2,600. According to a report of iGyaan, the foldable smartphones of Xiaomi is expected to be unveiled at nearly half the Samsung Galaxy Fold’s price. In addition, the report reveals the retailed price of Xiaomi’s foldable phone to be US$999. Following its less price strategy, Xiaomi seems to apply this strategy for its upcoming foldable smartphone.
If Xiaomi possibly unveils its foldable handset with the above price, it will become the foldable device with the lowest price in the current market. Moreover, the company is reported to launch its smartphone in Europe with the price of €999. The smartphone will be introduced in India too with a price tag of Rs. 74,799. The foldable phone of Xiaomi is said to come with the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 SoC, paired with 10GB RAM. Additionally, the handset will run Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI 10 custom interface.
Should the rumours come true, Xiaomi’s foldable phone will sport a 10-inch display when unfolded and will sport a 6.5-inch display when folded. However, at present, whether Xiaomi plans to unveil its first foldable phone in the Indian market or not remains unknown. Meanwhile, the South Korean giant, Samsung has confirmed to launch the Galaxy Fold in India soon, but it has not revealed the device’s official launch date yet.
