Sony Is Reportedly Working On A Folding Phone That Can Remember User Habit

After Galaxy Fold with its disappointing show and Huawei Mate X pulled a no show last month, Sony is reportedly working on a phone with a folding display

Foldable phones are by far the hottest trend in the smartphone industry, and it seems like electronics giants are competing for the spot of the first company to bring one of these models to the market. After Samsung Galaxy Fold with its disappointing debut and Huawei Mate X pulling a no show last month, Sony is reportedly working on its own phone with a folding display.

According to a report by LetsGoDigital, this phone from Sony has a display with flexibility on both the front and the back, coupled with a temperature, a pressure, and an acceleration sensor. The report also said that the company might adopt a photo and a resistance sensor to record each user habit and then adjust the UI accordingly.

Sony’s device will fold in the way Huawei Mate X does, meaning it will follow the outwards direction. So when the phone is folded up, there will be a secondary display. Like all other patents, this design may never make it to reality at all, so do not get your hopes up just yet.

There is one thing we can count on though, which is the market for folding smartphone is ripe with opportunities for companies that are willing to take the risk. And for a firm that is both large and innovative, Sony will not want to miss out on this chance.

About other foldable devices, according to Android Community, the Galaxy Fold has passed final rounds of tests with flying colors, and with Huawei Mate X release delayed until September, it seems like nothing can stop Samsung from being the first company to ship a foldable phone to customers.

The last time we heard about the Galaxy Fold was when it was reportedly spotted on a metro in New Delhi, which may suggest that the phone could be launched in India soon.
