This Will Reportedly Be Samsung's First Smartphone With Pop-Up Camera

While other smartphone brands are shifting towards the punch-hole display design, Samsung unexpectedly shows interest in the pop-up selfie camera mechanism.

Pop-up selfie cameras were once a popular design trend favoured by several smartphone brands, especially Chinese ones like Xiaomi or OnePlus. It helps remove the infamous notch or punch-hole to achieve the full-screen experience.

However, the design has also faced some major issues. For example, it allows the dust to get into the phone easier and the manufacturing cost is also higher. Not just that, the durability may not be as high as other designs and some users are also not really happy with it. Because of that, the pop-up selfie camera design has gradually disappeared.

It seems like Samsung is interested in using the pop-up camera design, even though it had insisted on not following the design trends of the Chinese phone brands.

Several leaked photos have revealed the design of a Samsung phone with a pop-up camera. Even though Samsung previously unveiled the Galaxy A80 with a rotating camera mechanism, which is quite different from the pop-up design.

This mysterious phone is said to be a new addition to the Galaxy A series. Early last year, Ice Universe claimed that Samsung would the first phone with a pop-up camera, dubbed Galaxy A90, but the leak didn’t come true. However, it seems like a Samsung phone with a pop-up selfie camera may still be coming soon.

As per the source, the device will rock a 6.5-inch full-screen display on the front and three cameras as well as a fingerprint reader on the rear. In addition, the handset will come with a USB-C port and no 3.5mm jack. Of course, it will have a pop-up module that is said to house a single selfie camera. Chances are it will be an affordable smartphone in the Galaxy A-series.
