In the second place is the Xiaomi Redmi 8 with 1.9 percent of the total market share in Q1 2020. With a 1.7-percent market share, the Galaxy S20 Plus from Samsung is the third best-selling Android smartphone in the world in the first quarter of this year. The Galaxy S20 Plus is also the only premium phone to appear in the top 6 best-selling phones, according to Neil Mawston, executive director of Strategy Analytics.

In Q1 2020, the total number of shipped smartphones was 275 million units and Android phones made up 86% of total market share. At a price of Rs 30,207, the Galaxy A51 is increasingly taken over by other cheaper phones.

Strategy Analytics associate director Juha Winter said:

“As mobile operators have reduced subsidies in recent years, and many countries are now tumbling into post-virus recession, smartphone consumers globally are becoming increasingly price-sensitive and they are seeking out new Android models that deliver the biggest bang for their buck. Android is entering a post-premium era.”

The smartphone, announced late last year, houses a 6.5-inch screen, four rear cameras (a 48MP lens, a 12MP lens, and dual 5MP lenses). Besides, it features a 32MP front-facing camera and a 4,000mAh battery. It’s powered by the Exynos 9 chipset and offers 6GB of RAM.
