Samsung said on Monday that it has shipped 2 million Galaxy A series units within 40 days, bringing around US$500 million (Rs. 3,500 crores roughly) in sales.
It is known that this South Korean tech giant had announced that it planned to gain US$4 billion (INR 28,000 crores roughly) in this year’s revenue in the Indian market from the Galaxy A series which is targeted at the youth segment.
Samsung India Chief Marketing Officer Ranjivjit Singh and Senior Vice-President to PTI said:
In addition, he also said that Samsung is quite confident that it will achieve its revenue target of US$4 billion.
The company, which is facing fierce competition to lead the smartphone market in India from a Chinese phone maker, Xiaomi, said that it will unveil 3 more devices in the upcoming weeks.
He said:
In order to be able to take on other rivals to hold the first position in the smartphone market, Samsung had changed its strategy in order to equip top-of-the-line features to mid-range devices instead of limiting those in just high-end devices.
While the South Korean tech giant often cites GfK data, various reports from other research firms like Counterpoint and IDC have recently placed Xiaomi at a higher position than Samsung (regarding smartphone shipments) for many quarters.
Samsung currently ships the Samsung Galaxy A50, A30, A20, A10 models under the Galaxy A series which costs Rs. 8,490 onwards.
