Redmi Note 8 Pro To Arrive In India In 2-3 Months, Announces Redmi GM Lu Weibing

Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro are planned to arrive in the Indian market as late as November.

Recently, Lu Weibing, General Manager at Redmi, has just announced that the company would not launch the Redmi Note 8 Pro and Note 8 in India for at least several months. This announcement appeared on the sidelines of the series release event in the Chinese market, where Redmi also introduced its RedmiBook 14 laptop and first TV.

To recall, the Note 8 Pro comes with a 64MP main sensor on the back and already arrived in China.

Regarding the launch of the Note 8 Pro in India, Weibing said that the company is actually preparing for the launch of the phone in India, but Redmi fans in the country will need to wait 2-3 months. This means that the phone will debut in October/November. The delay is an obvious contrast to the Note 7 lineup unveiled in China in January and arrived in India one month later. The Note 7 Pro was, in fact, first unveiled in the Indian market before the launch in China. He also stated that the Note 8 Pro phone will debut in the Indian market with the same Helio G90T chipset from MediaTek as the version in China.

Not long after the announcement, the specifications of the rival Realme XT appeared online with the 64MP main sensor on the back as well, stealing Redmi’s thunder. Realme also teased that the brand would launch the XT in the Indian market at the end of September and launch it in China before Diwali.

Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ display, MIUI 10, and an Helio G90T octa-core gaming chipset clocked at 2GHz. Notably, the phone has a 64MP main rear sensor, paired with an 8-megapixel 120-degree ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor.

In comparison with the 48MP lens, the 64MP sensor is tipped to take 34% more optical information. Also, it supports 25X zoom capabilities and 8K video recording. The handset will feature a 20MP front-facing sensor for taking selfies. Additionally, the device is packed with a beefy 4,500 mAh cell with the 18W quick charging tech.

Meanwhile, the regular Note 8 features a 48MP main sensor, coupled with three other sensors like the Pro variant. On the front, the device comes with a 13MP shooter for taking selfies. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 665 chipset. Other specs of the phone include MIUI 10, a 4,000 mAh cell with 18W fast charging support and a 6.53-inch screen.

Regarding the pricing, the Note 8 Pro has the starting price of CNY1,399 (Rs. 14,000 roughly) for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. Meanwhile, the higher-end 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant costs CNY1,599 (Rs. 16,000 roughly) and the top-end 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY1,799 (Rs. 18,000 roughly). The regular Note 8 is available with three storage variants including 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage, as well as 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. They are respectively priced at CNY999 (Rs. 10,000 roughly), CNY1,199 (Rs. 12,000 roughly), and CNY1,399 (Rs. 14,000 roughly). While the Note 8 Pro is available for sales on 3 September in China, the Note 8 will arrive on 17 September.
