To make its phone stands out in the crowd and be something special among other 120Hz handsets, the ROG Phone 2 for example, OnePlus also adds the AMOLED panel, promising a series of new custom design.

The Fluid Display technology promises a 7% faster speed and 240Hz touch sampling rate, meaning it will be much more responsive to the taps of your fingers.

Another feature is the video playback supported by 120Hz or 60Hz, courtesy of the same technology found in several TVs nowadays.

Interested users can also expect an enhanced color accuracy with a maximum of 0.8 Just Noticeable Color Difference ratio, a little better than that of the Galaxy S10, which stands at 0.9. Other features are 1,000-nit peak of brightness and factory-calibrated 10-bit color.

The year 2020 will see more phones with 120Hz AMOLED display making their ways to the market. The last time we checked, Samsung and Apple are looking to add these features to their own handsets.

OnePlus should hurry up as what it considers the selling point might become something common when this year ends.

Overall, Fluid Display heralds a new era of smartphone making where the super-fast refresh rate is the new norm for mainstream handsets.
