Xiaomi’s gaming-centric brand, Black Shark has recently introduced its third-generation gaming smartphone, called Black Shark 2 in the Chinese market. Though the phone has all fire-power or at least on theory, it is still overshadowed by iQOO smartphone from Vivo coming with a triple rear camera setup and a higher screen-to-body ratio. To deal with that, the brand is likely to be on the track of launching another gaming phone (probably Black Shark 3) which could feature a triple camera setup on the back and a true bezel-less display.
Xiaomi has filed a patent of various new gaming smartphones. It is known that LetsGoDigital published the patent filed by Xiaomi in last December at WIPO’s Global Design Database on 19 March 2019. And there are up to 48 sketches of 8 different smartphones and Xiaomi also stated “the name of this design product: mobile phone (Sky)” in the description. Therefore, the upcoming gaming smartphone’s name could be Sky. Interestingly, by the beginning of this year, Geekbench also spotted a device named Black Shark Skywalker.
Even though the designs seem identical to previous-generation Black Shark smartphones, the new model probably has a triple camera setup on its back and comes with a water-drop notch or a wide notch like iPhones. Typically, this new gaming phone could feature a Time-of-Flight (ToF) 3D sensor for depth effect. Additionally, it is expected to have a nearly true bezel-less design with a cut-out instead of a bezel up top.
That’s all the information about the upcoming Black Shark gaming phone available at present. The patent has not spilled the beans on new Black Shark gaming phone’s specifications, but the 12GB RAM and Snapdragon 855. We will update as soon as we hear more about Xiaomi's gaming-centric series.
