Motorola wants to reduce distraction by offering a smaller screen on its foldable phone

Motorola has been quite vocal about its plan to bring back the Razr smartphone brand. And it plans to do this by joining the foldable phone race with a kind of technology totally different from that of Huawei or Samsung. We have seen what it may look like unfolded, but recently, a new video shows its appearance when folded.

Please bear in mind that this is not an official release from Motorola but according to Endgadget, Lenovo used exactly this render of this foldable phone for press demo. This act might confirm that fans were right about what the phone looks like or it may convey a statement that they have gone way too far, We have no way to know for sure unless Lenovo told us. But what we can be sure now is the render complies with the patent the company registered for.

When it closed, the phone might have a big front screen but it seems like Motorola wants to keep the small panel quintessential to the older Razrs. A display this small might be a hinder when users want to type anything, but Motorola wants to advertise this feature as a way to reduce distraction. The outer screen might be used to see if you have any notifications worth checking without accessing the whole phone.

This vision is quite similar to what other smartphone makers are aiming at, which is to create a foldable smartphone that can fit into your pockets and be a larger one when unfolded. This might be a good piece of news for those who want the best of both worlds.

However, since the leak has not been confirmed by Motorola, there is nothing official to put our hopes on just yet. All we know now is the phone will be released this year. Earlier rumors said that the phone might set you back at least $1,500 so if you want one, you had better save now.
