After ASUS and Samsung, Huawei could be developing a new smartphone with the rotating camera design, suggested by the company's recent patent.

When it comes to smartphones, it can be said that the most popular design trends today are the notch, punch-hole, and full-screen display. For the third one, we have examples of Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 with a manual sliding mechanism, OnePlus 7 Pro with a pop-up selfie camera and ASUS ZenFone 6 with a rotating camera.
Not only ASUS, but Samsung is also another manufacturer that has adopted this year's flip camera design with the Galaxy A80, although this phone uses a combination of sliding and flip mechanisms. According to a recent patent, Huawei may also adopt the flip camera design for its smartphones in the future. Of course, this is not Huawei's first smartphone with a rotating camera, because this design was applied on the Huawei Shot X (also known as Honor 7i), which was launched in 2015.
LetsGoDigital said that Huawei filed a patent for a device with a flip camera design similar to ZenFone 6 on January 9, 2019. This patent was later granted by the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), published on December 17, 2019.
Despite having a similar design to ZenFone 6, Huawei's mysterious smartphone is equipped with triple cameras instead of only two. The triple-camera system of the device will be able to flip 180 degrees from the back to the front. This camera cluster also includes an ultra-wide-angle lens, so users can easily take group selfies at a higher quality.
Last month, it was reported that Huawei would adopt a flip camera design for the Huawei P Smart Z 2020. Because this year's P Smart Z series uses a pop-up selfie camera mechanism, the possibility of its successor featuring a rotating camera is a completely grounded speculation.
