HTC, a phone maker that has fallen behind in the market for years, is now taking another chance by releasing a new cheap blockchain phone.

HTC, a phone maker that has fallen behind in the market for years, is now taking another chance. According to its new CEO Yves Maitre, the company is working on the Exodus project, which hints at a new smartphone.

Last weekend, during the Lighting conference in Berlin, HTC launched the Exodus 1s, with which it declares that the project isn’t a one-off. The company has lowered the price to around $244, which isn’t bad for those who want to adopt the technology. And apparently, the new phone is available in all the equivalent cryptocurrencies.

The Exodus 1s offers pretty modest specs, with Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset, and it runs on Android 8.1, 4GB RAM, along with 64GB internal storage. Additionally, its HD+ screen measures 5.7 inches. The phone comes with a microUSB port as well as a headphone jack. All in all, the Exodus 1s seems to be a low-end phone.

However, what to talk about here is that the phone has Bitcoin node access and a hardware wallet. HTC’s Phil Chen said in a release:

Maitre believes that blockchain’s mainstream use in such devices is over two or three years out. But the Exodus 1s gives us a way of seeing what today technology has to offer. The phone is currently available for order in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Europe.
