Gaming-Centric Asus ROG Phone 2 To Launch On 23 July

After launching the Asus ROG Phone in June last year, the Taiwan-based company Asus is reportedly planning to announce the successor to the phone called Asus ROG Phone 2 on 23 July this year.

This upcoming gaming-centric smartphone will make its debut at a launch event in Beijing, China. The device is expected to be available in two options. The base variant will be priced at RMB 4,399 (around Rs. 44,600). The brand will likely promote this smartphone at the ChinaJoy 2019 expo taking place in Shanghai on 1 August.

Its predecessor ROG Phone that launched last year sported a 90Hz screen, but the upcoming ROG Phone 2 will pack an even more impressive display with a 120Hz refresh rate. There are not many details of the phone at the moment, but it is highly likely that the phone will be powered by the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor under the hood, accompanied by up to 12GB of RAM. It is also tipped to feature a cooling system just like the ROG Phone.

To recall, the ROG Phone made its debut on June last year with a 6.0-inch FHD+ panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by a 10nm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 512GB of storage. It shipped with Android 9 Pie with ROG Gaming X UI on top. In terms of camera, it features a dual camera setup that comprises of a 12MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. There is also an 8MP selfie camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. Finally, it is powered by a beefy 4,000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging solution.
