Samsung Confirmed That All Of Its Future Devices Wouldn't Come With Earphones And Chargers

After teasing Apple for not including a charging brick with the iPhone 12 lineup, Samsung has followed suit with the same move when it launched the S21 series recently.

And it doesn’t intend to stop with just one series, Samsung has announced that its future hardware would not come with earphones and chargers.

The funny thing is after the iPhone 12 series was made public, Samsung’s Facebook page mocked the decision, suggesting that the South Korean tech giant won’t do the same.

In October, rumor had it that Samsung would not include the earphones and chargers in the package of the S21 series. In December, the rumor seemed more likely when the company erased the mocking post.

And when the new S phones were revealed last week, it was made public that the earphones and chargers won’t make it to customers’ hands. The decision to omit the accessories on all future devices was later confirmed in a Q&A post by Samsung’s EVP and Head of the Customer Experience Office Patrick Chomet:

Samsung cited the same reason as Apple for the removal, saying that most people had already had compatible accessories from previous devices and that it would be more environmentally friendly.

Samsung also mentioned that USB-C type charging ports had been on its devices since 2017 so if users have older chargers, they could still work on future Galaxy tablets and phones.

Fortunately, the removal is said to be ‘gradual’ so if you are a Samsung fan, you still have time to adjust. One thing we know for sure now is users of the S21 lineup will have to make do with no new earphones or chargers in the package.
