Microsoft has recently denied the source saying that the US tech giant has a plan to move the Xbox gaming consoles to another country, but not China.
A recent report by Nikkei Asian Review stated the financial news outlet’s speculation that some hi-tech manufacturers including Microsoft, Amazon, Dell, and HP Inc are going to move their production out of China, due to the negative effects of the US-China trade war.
In an interview with CNET, a spokesperson from Microsoft said:
Similar to Microsoft, Lenovo also reacted against the report, denying that they had plans to shift away laptop production capacity.
Other companies such as HP and Dell are reportedly planning to move 30% of laptop production out of China. These manufacturers' notebooks are now produced in Kunshan and Chongqing, China. Also, Amazon and Nintendo are aiming at emerging manufacturing hubs like Vietnam or Taiwan to base their production lines. Accordingly, Amazon will probably move the production of its Echo speakers and Kindles to another region.
The report pointed out:
HP hasn't given any comment on this speculation.
The United States proposed many new tariffs on a variety of products such as game consoles, smartphones, and laptops. That means these companies will have to pay more significant costs if they want to bring their products to consumers.
In addition to the tech companies mentioned above, Apple has reportedly had a plan to shift up to 30% of the production of smartphones out of China.
At present, China is the biggest manufacturer of both smartphones and PCs in the world.
Also according to the report from Nikkei, Inventec and Foxconn Technology have partially shifted their production from China to Mexico, Taiwan, and some other countries.
