Recently, the Japan’s Advanced Industrial Science & Technology Institute (AIST) has revealed their new humanoid robot named HRP-5P. The robot is built with the aim of assisting construction  labour. It has the ability to perform both difficult and simple tasks in construction. The most impressive task HRP-5P can carry out is to install a wooden drywall by itself, meaning no human involvement is needed.

Being designed with a human figure, the humanoid robot moves quite slowly. This was clear to be seen in the IEEE Spectrum video that AIST has shared to the public.

HRP-5P is still on its track to be officially finished with a whole host of technology. The humanoid robot can spot objects, plan its coming movement as well as detect the surrounding environment.

Equipped with claws, HRP-5P can perform several tasks including picking up and fastening boards with the help of its arm's  screwdriver, along with other simple actions like leaning and walking.

Talking to Techcrunch, HRP-5P Japanese creators said the robot is a platform of development collaborating both the academia and industry. They believed the research and development of HRP-5P as well as other humanoid robots particularly for building construction will continue evolving. Therefore, we will soon have humanoid robots participated in large structures construction such as ships and aircrafts, helping both employees and employers be able to rest.

The creation of HRP-5P is also a solution to the current Japanese human labour shortage. According to AIST, HRP-5P and other humanoid robots are made with the purpose to free workers so that they can focus on safer work.

It is believed that in the near future, robots like HRP-5P will not be strange to people in their daily life, replacing human labours in the construction industry. The last thing to be concerned now is just improving their working speed.
