Much as 5G is still considered new technology, it has been applied in a handful of projects, including some from LG. The company is currently working with SK Telecom – a Korean carrier on a robot project, and these cloud-based autonomous bots will later be commercialized. These robots will have a connection to the 5G network provided by SK Telecom. Later on, each and every new feature of the robot will be downloaded and updated entirely through this network.

As said by the companies, these 5G robots were designed to patrol for 24/7 security in warehouses and facilities, as well as to detect abnormalities. Moreover, the robot service will be secured by the technology of Quantum cryptography.
SK Telecom also wants to put its home-made AI cloud and Interference Accelerator into use. The company strongly believes that using AI technology will enhance robots’ information-processing performance and reinforce interconnection amongst robots.

Both SK Telecom and LG are working at building this hyperspace platform called eSpace, which will be built mainly through robots’ act of collecting spatial data and photos of the real world. Plus, these companies will charge an extra fee for the services of virtual space.
Together with the act of launching 5G mobile phones, LG company has been researching CLOi – smart home bot and CLOi SuitBot – a bot that can support your leg.
Last year, a new division of robotics was formed by LG, and in 2017, the company deployed a new suite of guiding and cleaning robots at the International Airport Incheon. The company revealed that it was working on restaurant robots as well.
