They consider it as a solution for the economic transformation when labor automation has become more and more popular.
According to the Washington Post, Sikkim, a small state in India has planned to make a basic income experiment to offer cash payments for all of the 610,000 people who are living in here. The upcoming experiment of Sikkim has still been kept in a secret.
Among the tech celebrities, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk have agreed with the idea concerning basic income. They consider it as a solution for the economic transformation when labor automation has become more and more popular.
However, there has been a clear limit in the scope and availability of actual experiments. And what makes us more surprised is that, instead of the prosperous United States, India has become the one to make the biggest experiment of basic income up to now.
The upcoming experiment of Sikkim has still been kept in a secret. That means we haven’t been updated the latest information relating to the experiment, such as the amount a resident will receive. Besides, we will have to wait for a long time to witness the official launch of this basic income experiment which will be conducted in 2022, as expected. The politicians from India are pinning their own hopes on it.
