Google's Messages App To Roll Out New Spam Protection Feature

When users enable the feature, Google will collect some data that are not phone numbers or their messages' content.

While spam texts are one of the most frustrating issues we sometimes have to face on smartphones, some Android users have recently reported that they are seeing Google's Messages app roll out new spam protection feature.

However, Android Police found that the feature has been available on some devices, instead of all the smartphones running on the Android operating system.

According to reports from some users, when the feature comes to your phone, a notification will be shown right after the Messages app is opened. Before the new setting is applied, a notification will display a message as follows:

Users can turn on or off the spam protection feature in ‘Advanced’ of the Android Settings menu. Android Police published screenshots relating to this feature.

Google has rolled out a new feature to prevent spam texts in its Messages app

Up to now, Google has not revealed more details about its launch plans, as well as which kind of data will be gathered by this spam protection feature.

In case you worry about your privacy or what Google have said to you, you can disable the feature and try to download some texting apps from third parties, which offer the encryption of your content when any message is sent.
