Google Maps have been facilitating users with a bunch of dedicated features over the years. Thanks to the new update, Indian users now can find it easier when they need to travel by public transportation with Google Maps. The tech giant has already rolled out the latest version of its map service with three additional features for the public travel system in India, including buses, trains, and local auto-rickshaws.
The app will help you benefit from the huge source of live traffic data across the country as well as the schedules of all buses to provide information about delays and real-time train status of the Indian Railways system. As part of that, you are able to know how long the trip will take in real-time, depending on the traffic conditions at the time.
In case you want to move to somewhere by bus, you’ll need to choose your starting location and a destination, then click on the transit tab to get bus travel times. If a bus is arriving in the place on time, it will be displayed in green, while the app will show the late one in red.
However, the feature is only ready for ten biggest metropolises, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Surat, Lucknow, Mysore, and Coimbatore.
As for the trains, Google Maps will offer a list of options for specific rail routes and the status of them in real-time. All you need to do is filling in your current rail station and destination to find out more whether it’s delayed or not.
Additionally, public transport and auto-rickshaws have been combined for suggestions related to mixed-mode. Google will initially offer this feature to users living in Delhi and Bangalore. The app will also show more details about rickshaw meter estimate as well as departure times for transit connection.
