Google And Amazon Called To Follow Apple Blocking Anti-Gay App From Its Platform

After Apple took down the anti-gay app from its app store, Google and Amazon are also urged to remove the toxic app from its platform.

Apple has recently blocked an anti-gay app called "Living Hope Ministries" from its store. The app was accused by campaigners of stigmatising LGBT people. This Christan Ministry app also endorsed ex-gay, they called homosexuality a sin and said that its members should help other people to return to their natural-born genders.

This action is not surprising as Apple has a series of standards that apps must meet, including rules about discrimination. Cited Apple's rules:

In response to Apple action, Ricky Chelette, executive director of Living Hope Ministries told NBC News that it plans to challenge the company.

Back in 2014, Tim Cook, the chief executive of Apple, became the first company leader in the list of Fortune 500 to announce that he was homosexual. Previously this year, in an interview with CNN, he also added that he is 'proud to be gay' and being gay is “God's greatest gift" to him.

Truth Wins Out, a nonprofits organization which fights for religious freedom, created an online petition demanding Apple to remove the anti-gay app Living Hope Ministries. In its petition, the gay-rights advocacy group claimed that the app encouraged its users to turn straight from gay with the help of therapy and prayer.

While the giant tech company has not commented about its move, Truth Wins Out addressed its appreciation to CEO Tim Cook and Apple:

The nonprofits also further stated that Google and Amazon should follow Apple's 'anti-gay app ban' action.

The Living Hope Ministries app is now gone from the Apple online store. However, it’s still available via Google Play and Amazon, where it’s rated as appropriate for teens.
