A cloud-based security product namely “BeyondCorp Remote Access" has just been developed by Google in order to help users use their workplace’s intranet with no need of installing a virtual private network (VPN). This service is provided for those who are forced to work remotely during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Many people are relying on VPN services to work.

According to Google, BeyondCorp Remote Access service enables its users to install internal web apps on every device whenever they want. It also provides reliable cybersecurity based on the “Zero-trust Architecture” which has been used within Google’s employees for nearly 10 years.

The newly-developed service is confirmed to bring several benefits over the VPNs, especially in terms of data security. VPNs’ complexity was clarified to create not only tons of problems for the IT teams when they have to deploy it widely but also many disadvantages for computer-illiterate employees. Moreover, the wider VPNs are extended, the more risks it would provide.

An official explanation from Google has been offered as well, which insists on the perfect replacement for VPN that BeyondCorp performs. It guarantees the accuracy needed when employees access their information.

Google also exemplified it by a supposing policy for work-from-home HR officials to be able to access their company’s web-based document management system on their own personal computers provided that they use the latest version of the OS and phishing-resistant authentication.

In addition, Google advises companies to use BeyondCorp Remote Access in days other than months if they are trying to find a solution for VPNs. Google is also cooperating with Deloitte on the hunt for end-to-end architecture, design, as well as deployment services that can support users’ zero-trust journey.
