Elon Musk Smoked Marijuana On Live Stream, Losing NASA’s Trust

After Elon Musk appeared on a live stream, smoking marijuana, NASA ordered to review SpaceX and Boeing workplace environment.

On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that NASA is requiring the workplace cultures to be reviewed in Boeing and SpaceX, which are collaborating with it to bring astronauts to ISS, aka the International Space Station.

According to the post, this order was issued after Elon Musk appeared on the podcast of Joe Rogan Experience. SpaceX CEO reportedly smoked marijuana while he was on the live stream and top executives at NASA do not like this.

Instead of technical details, the workplace culture assessment will look into the companies’ policies on drugs, management and leadership style, as well as employees’ work hours. This assessment will take place from early next year and may last for months. The report said this process will involve interviewing hundreds of people.

There were no comments from NASA.

On behalf of SpaceX, a spokeswoman stated that the firm holds a strong partnership with NASA and that workplace safety is a priority here. She stressed the confidence that their employees do not use drugs; plus, both their workforce and workplace programs are better than the contractual requirements.

As stated by Boeing, the company had not received any official notification on NASA’s review. It firmly claimed on preserving a workplace without drugs or alcohol.

In particular, its spokesperson said that at Boeing, safety, integrity, product quality, workforce competence, and work environment are ensured. He continued by saying, as NASA’s long-lasting partner, Boeing shares the same merits and is committed to maintaining its legacy of trust, openness and mission success.

Besides the assessment, Elon Musk has undergone a few tough months. Back in September, he was forced to resign from his position as chairman at Tesla and pay a $20 million fine for a tweet that said he intended to take Tesla private. He was accused of lying to investors about funding for the transition.

Further, in July, Musk was alleged of defamation after calling a British diver, who rescued Thai children from a cave, a “pedo”.
