Each time Microsoft announces a new Windows version, it would be a big deal. And on Monday, the tech giant teased the launch of Windows 1.0, leaving people with mixed feelings and confusion.
Accordingly, the tech giant went on Twitter and Instagram, posting a 13-second video about a “new” Windows 1.0 OS. The video features an ‘80s look, showing the logos of previous Windows version, and ends with the original logo of Windows 1.0.
Along with the video, Microsoft tweeted:
Microsoft refused to give comments. However, based on the video as well as the release date, it’s possible that this may be associated with the release of Stranger Things Season 3, scheduled to be aired later today.
The first GUI (graphical user interface) of Microsoft was rolled out on November 20, 1985, the same with the release of Netflix’s original series’ third season premiered. The Windows 1.0 video the company posted features distinct music and graphics that are particular of the 80s.
A follow-up tweet from the tech giant said: “It's going to be totally tubular!”
Then on Tuesday, the Windows maker tweeted promo materials for other software available at that time like Microsoft Flight Simulator, Chart, Word, and Excel.
The original video attracted 474,000 views on Twitter and 288,000 views on Instagram.
