UP Police Supported To Catch Criminal By AI, Face ID

An application integrated with state-on-the-art technologies has been developed for UP police to handle criminal case quickly.

According to New Delhi’s officials, an application, which has data on 500,000 criminals and is integrated with AI, Face ID, and a various other tech advances, has assisted the Uttar Pradesh (UP) police in handling cases faster. The high-level official and the chief of UP police, O P Singh introduced this application, namely third eye or “Trinetra” at a senior officer conference in annual celebrations of the Police Week in Lucknow.

It is known that UP police have gathered the criminal records collected from the prisons department, the GRP force to protect the state railway network, and the state police to create the database.

This database is expected to help the police force through various integrated technologies such as text search, face recognition, phonetic search, analysis of biometric records, gang analysis, and artificial intelligence to handle targeted criminals quickly.

This database is expected to help the police force on the ground in the targeted and quick manner thanks to being integrated with various technological advances such as text search, face recognition, phonetic search, analysis of biometric records, gang analysis, and artificial intelligence.

According to Singh in the interview with PTI, the application stores approximately 500,000 criminals' database of the state. It will let the police officers on ground access to crime dossiers and files:

The official explained that the artificial intelligence technology can help police on the ground to recognize a criminal through their photographs and face in the FIRs (first information reports), as well as scan their voice samples, fingerprints, and explore criminal links with other gangs. In addition, the police are also able to search the criminal’s name whether his name is misspelled or not.

Currently, the high-level policemen’s smartphones have installed this application. The lower-level police officers can use this app in the coming time.

The app will be updated by a specific official team, said the General Director of Police. Officials can access this app after entering a special password whenever occurring a criminal case.
