Levia is an odd furniture that commands an excellent blend between classical Italian design, and magic. A levitating lamp will be a great addition to the desk for sure.

For anyone wishing to bring a little more contemporary flair to their desk. ‘Levia’ is a pretty good choice for a lighting fixture that managed to bring not only a modern feel but also a touch of refined Italian design.

Levitating Lamp

Levia does not only light your desk up, however. Aside from being an aesthetically pleasing addition for the desk and also a vibrant light source, it also has many features that would certainly catch the attention of guests.

Like many innovative designs, Levia is currently a Kickstarter project. The idea was born, and the lamp was created in Italy. The country’s rich architectural history and outstanding design language gave it a rightful edge in term of pure design.

Unlike any other desk lamps, what separates Levia from hundreds of other projects out there is the fact that it is a literal levitating light bulb. The designers installed within the lamp a series of magnets that allow it to hover mid-air with no tethers attached. The way it just floats there is an amusing and eerie sight to behold, like a scene straight out of a sci-fi movie. That is the reason why if a modern feel is your style. I personally think only Levia, at the moment, can bring the full essence of the style to you.

That’s not all there is, fortunately.

Excellent Craft

Like I had previously mentioned, Levia captured entirely the fine craftsmanship that’s synonymous for Italy. The design of the lamp focuses on the luxurious marble base, the unique design, and two colors it comes with.

The marble base wasn’t made of any atypical types of marble, however. The lamp’s designers sourced Carrara and Marquina marbles for the fixture to make respectively the white and black versions.

Carrara marble is a high-quality white or blue-grey type of marble only found in Tuscany, Italy. Meanwhile, Marquina marble is a smooth, black colored marble found in Markina, Basque Country to Northern Spain. Each of the marble pieces used by Levia’s designers for the lamps was precision-milled by CNC machines. After that, they’re finished by hands to impeccable shines: Displaying the artistic Italian heritage of the lamp.

The base doesn’t just act as a stand. It also houses Levia’s touch system. You only need to touch it once, and the device will automatically light up. There are no batteries, as well. Electromagnetic induction is used to replace them completely.

Reliability and Efficiency

So, what if there’s a power-loss and the electromagnets no longer work to keep the bulbs in the air? You just have to let it plummets and shatters onto your desktop like that?

Fortunately, Levia is an extremely stable lamp due to its bi-direction and automatic management software. The anti-fall system forces the bulb backward and attaches it firmly to the device if it detects a sudden loss of power.

Levia also works better than traditional desk lamps in term of efficiency. It only consumes about 3 Watts and can last for about 50,000 hours of continuous work. If you were to let it shine for an entire day, it would only cost you a couple of cents in electricity.

The math’s simple. If you use the lamp for about 8 hours for an entire year, Levia could last you about 17 years if you take care of it properly.

The bulb in Levia emits what’s called ‘warm light’. The common bulbs found in households cast the opposite, being ‘cold light’. Warm light is considerably better for human health as they reduce eye strains. Furthermore, they’re also linked to better sleep quality and more positive emotions in humans.

If you’re looking for the next lamp to light your life for the next decade, you know where to find it now.
