The OnePlus 8 Series In India Is Much Cheaper Than Its Price In The US Market

OnePlus India posted on Twitter that the 8 series will be initially sold at Rs. 41,999, which equals nearly $550.

Despite having officially introduced the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro phones at the beginning of last week, the company still kept the pricing information for India secret. And now the numbers in India are revealed, which is considered to bring a higher degree of competitiveness as compared to the US market, which helps the brand become more and more popular in its top market.

OnePlus posted in its Twitter account that the 8 series will be initially sold at Rs. 41,999, which equals nearly $550. Meanwhile, OnePlus 8’s base price is $699 in the US. But Android Central claimed that the comparison might seem a little bit unfair due to the exclusivity of the Indian entry-level model, and the phone’s 6-GB RAM instead of 8-GB RAM. Moreover, it is available on Amazon only.

Even so, OnePlus 8 is still sold at lower prices throughout the lineup. Its 8GB/128GB version is beyond $100 cheaper at Rs.44,999, which approximates $590 and 12GB/256GB one is nearly $150 cheaper at Rs. 49,999, close to $650.

There are more differences between the prices of the OnePlus 8 and the related devices sold in India and in the US, which is said to be quite aggressive. However, this pricing strategy is unavoidable to some extent. The fact is that OnePlus is a top leading phone brand in India, while it might receive a drop in sales in the US, especially when the Indian market is given a much higher level of competitiveness.

Realme and iQOO are subsidiaries that share the same parent company as OnePlus. Their Snapdragon 865-powered phones which have just been introduced in India are even sold at more low-cost prices. In some cases, OnePlus can be proud of its 8 series’ Indian pricing that brought about a little bit of reputation over other brands, but they are still equal in the same league. OnePlus’ manufacturing lines are also located in India in order to avoid tariffs.
