Sony Showed A Demo PS5 With All The Next-Gen Features

PS5 is expected to be the Ferrari in the gaming console world. Sony has already released its hardware which could rival those high-end PC gaming rigs

This new console will obsolete PS4 Pro

Fans expect PS5 to be the Ferrari in the gaming console world. In fact, Sony has already released the hardware spec of the PS5 which could be on par with those high-end PC gaming rigs. Investors of Sony had had the chance for a glimpse at the future capabilities of the console in a strategy meeting of the corporate. In this meeting, Sony showed off to the attendees the quickness of PS5 when it comes to rendering detailed graphics. We know that it was a quite short demonstration, but it was still sufficient to show the ability of the PS5 to load 3D cityscapes quickly. If we take it into comparison with the performance of the PS4 Pro, it would be like walking vs. riding a car.

Thanks to Takashi Mochizuki's tweet we got another sneak peek.

Then thanks to Takashi Mochizuki ( a reporter from Wall Street Journal) we got another sneak peek. He has posted test footage of the PS5 rendering image ten times faster than the PS4 Pro on Twitter.  The demo and presentation were included in a slideshow published by Sony.

We have the confirmation from Mark Cerny hat the new console of Sony will feature next-gen hardware

In that demonstration, Sony first showed a virtual camera takes pictures of a model city while traveling across it at an increasing speed. While PS4 Pro struggles to get through this challenge, the PS5 got no trouble rendering the pictures of the model city. Then, they demonstrated the ability to render an entire 3D scene in under a second, while PS4 Pro took eight whole seconds to do it.

The PS5 was able to do that largely thanks to two main components. The PS5 features an AMD custom-made SSD, together with a GPU from AMD which supports high-end rendering technique with the name of ray tracing. We have the confirmation from Mark Cerny ( PS4's system architect) that the new console of Sony will feature next-gen hardware. However, that is only half the plan that Sony has for PlayStation.

Cloud Gaming: PS5

The presentation of Sony also mentioned on the subject of cloud gaming. They stated that it would play a huge role in the gaming industry in the next couple of years. The goal of Sony is providing to the customer a means to access to games whether they have a console or not. It is kinda similar to what xCloud and Goole Stadia is trying to do. But to achieve that vision, Sony still has a long way to go.

The presentation of Sony also mentioned the subject of cloud gaming.

The existing PS Now service of Sony has 5.6 million users in 19 countries. That platform alone will be sufficient for Sony to develop its necessary cloud infrastructure, that is also why they have signed a new contract with Microsoft recently. We could see clearly why Sony interests in such an agreement with Microsoft. Because with this deal, they could utilize the powerful Azure infrastructure to reach more users and improve the streaming quality of their PS Now service.

But for more details on the matter, we will still have to wait and see.
