Samsung has been talking up the upcoming foldable smartphones that are dubbed as either Galaxy X or Galaxy F. However, why should they just stop at this point? How about bringing the bending magic towards other gadgets that have screens? According to an exec of Samsung, that is exactly what they have been doing. The next product to get this folding makeover is the laptops lineup of the company.
Lee Min-Cheol. VP of PCs Marketing at Samsung said that it is in collaboration with screen makers. The goal is developing laptops that have foldable displays just like the foldable smartphones. These displays will not only fold in a regular way, but they can also create new user experience and value.

Lee made these comments in a showcase about Samsung’s obviously less interesting new laptops, the “Flash”, in Seoul, South Korea. He then added that the company is working on developing big laptop AMOLED displays with screen makers at the moment. Samsung is regarded as a leader across the OLED industry. In addition, the company has previewed recently an OLED flexible display that is “unbreakable”.
This year, the electronics giant from South Korea has released challenger to Surface using the guise of Notebook 9 Pen: the laptop/tablet 2-in-1 hybrid weighing only 2.2 pounds. It stood out from Google and Microsoft rivals thanks to a form factor for folding.

However, details on this new product are still scarce at the moment. Let us hope that this time Samsung will not tease the release for numerous years. After all, that is exactly what it did to the foldable handset (screenshot from concept video above). The poor thing is finally planned to be released in 2019, barring delays. It would be heaven if they release a bendy laptop simultaneously.
