Many people believe that the year 2019 will see the release of Apple AirPods 2, but since we have seen no sign of them. The attention shifts to PowerBeats Pro, the first truly wireless earbuds. They offer decent sound quality, appealing appearance, and seem like they can stick on your ears in most situations.
Price And Release Date
The PowerBeats Pro was officially out on the 10th of May with the price of Rs. 17,200. You have the choice to acquire the pair in Black, Moss, Navy, and Ivory, with matching cases of course.
In comparison with Apple AirPods, the price is definitely higher. The margin is even more substantial compared with the PowerBeats 3. That excess in the price is for a better design and the H1 Chip to improved sound quality.
Design
About the overall look, PowerBeats Pro exudes a sporty appearance, but you can bring them with you on occasions outside of the gym too.
On the earbuds there is a playback control button and a volume rocker, meaning you can control the earbuds with the either of your hands. If you have initiated Siri, you can give a command with the help of Siri for the same effect.
PowerBeats Pro provides you with the utmost comfort in the way they fit snugly into your ears as well as the way they play music.
With other wireless earbuds, like the jaybird X4, you will sense pressure building up inside, but there is no such thing when you wear the PowerBeats Pro. This benefit is brought to you by a micro-laser barometric venting hole that acts to lower the pressure and make bass sounds more solid. And that is true, Beats headphones have a reputation for themselves with bass performance.
The nozzle is slim, giving the earbuds the ability to fit right in your ears. The company has four different ear tips so you can choose one that suite you best.
The most significant downer we can find with these earbuds is its sizable case. There are not many pockets into which you can tug it comfortably, and it looks awkward carrying around with you. It seems like the best place for the case is the locker or in your bag.
Apple claimed that the PowerBeats Pro could hold up to nine hours and the case can give them two charges. So in total, they can work for at least a few days before you need to plug them in with a power source.
Setup
Apple has its own ecosystem for its devices, so the PowerBeats Pro is best paired with other items from the iPhone maker. If your smartphone or tablet runs on iOS, all you have to do is to open the case and place them near the devices, tap two times and they will be synced.
However, if you use Android, that is not the end of the world. PowerBeats Pro can work with devices running on an operating system other than iOS too. What you have to do in this case is to press the pairing button and choose the earbuds from the other device. There is no significant difference in the sound quality when we pair it with an iOS smartphone and an Android one.
The H1 Chip is on AirPods too, and it enables way faster combinations between devices. You will also have Siri without the need to tap anything. However, these are not the features you cannot live without.
Performance
Staying in users’ ears and connect quickly are both positive features but what people care about the most is the sound quality when they move around, a respect not many wireless earbuds can meet with users’ expectations.
This is precisely what makes PowerBeats Pro stands out. They perform well when you work out and when you are at leisure. There is minor flimsiness that some users with discerning ears detect but for average people, that is not a deal breaker.
More importantly, The PowerBeats Pro provides listeners with a gentle curve that makes any kind of music sounds energetic enough.
However, as music preference and EQ curve are personal opinion so we cannot say if what these earbuds offer is best for everyone. So if you want to know if they suit your taste, the best way to know is to try them on. There is not a tool or anything like that to alter the sounds if you do not like them though. In case you do not hear enough mids when you are listening to music or watching a movie, or even if you think there is something missing in highs, you can do nothing about it.
But that is the problem of a more seasoned audiophile. What really troubles most users is the fact that The Powerbeats Pro are IPX4 splash-resistant, meaning you can sweat or jump in the pool, but they are not totally water-proof. So bear that in mind the next time you plan to bring them to the beach or somewhere like that.
Early Verdict
After using them for a while, our conclusion, for now, is the PowerBeats Pro has a lot to love. They fit snugly into your ears; they have a durable battery that enables the earbuds to work for nine hours straight; the sounds are of decent quality and can meet the expectations of most average users; and they can connect quickly to any device you have, whether it runs on Android, iOS, or any other operating system.
Their price can put them out of the reach of many people, but it is justified given all of these above positive features. However, for audiophiles who can detect the flaws in the sound quality, the fact that it does not allow users to alter anything might be a deal breaker. The case is too big to fit in a regular-sized pocket, and they are not water-proof.
Many users say that the PowerBeats Pro is way more likable than the Apple AirPods, but different people with different tastes may have their own assessments.
