Microsoft Allows Creating Fonts With Your Handwriting

This year, Microsoft released an application called Font Maker, which allows users to create their own handwriting typefaces. Microsoft did not promote this feature aggressively, but it was fascinating. Although it doesn't bring in lots of revenue like Microsoft Office, Azure or Windows, it gives you an exciting feeling when typing and reading the font you create on the screen yourself.
However, this application is only available in English. It works with the latest Windows 10 versions only. To be able to use it, you must have a touch screen device and a stylus to write.
In particular, this font is not limited to Windows only. Every time you create a new font, it will create a file in TrueType format. This allows users to view and use it in Word, Evernote, and even Macs.
Steps to use Microsoft Font Maker
First, get the application to your device on Microsoft Store.
After opening the application, there are many small boxes, each contains a letter (lowercase and capital), numbers, as well as punctuation marks.
Next, use the stylus to write each letter and character within their boxes, this helps the software record your fonts most accurately. Don't worry when you write down wrong, if you use the Surface Pen, it has an erasing mode that allows you to edit it as you like.
Once you're done with that, click Next.
In this step, you must write a triple of phrases or sentences given in their corresponding boxes. Do not write over the lines. Of course, you can use the erasing option here too. The software will identify the connection between your letters and how you write a sentence so that it can create the most complete font.
After that, you will receive a paragraph written in the font you just created so you can check and edit. At the bottom of the window, there are adjustable sliders of size, space between characters, space between words.
When your font is generated, you can adjust the size of the text in the paragraph, but the space between the letters and the characters is not adjustable. So make sure it looks as natural as you want.
After you have finished checking the paragraph and are happy with the font, you can press "Create" to save this font and use it anytime and anywhere.
Save your fonts under .TTF format (TrueType file). Saved in this format, your fonts can be used in a variety of devices and applications. To start using the font on your current PC, open File Explorer, press Install then close the window. Or, you can go to Control Panel, select Appearance and Personalization, then click Fonts to access that font. Now open some application that can customize the font to see your results.
You will be surprised to see your handwriting appear on the screen while typing. Check every letter and character carefully because in some case, the lowercase forms of long letters like g or q do not adequately show up. If you want to change any letter, go back to Font Maker and create a new font until you find it most complete and satisfying.
With an exciting application like this, why only design a single handwriting font? You can create more interesting typefaces or give them to your friends and family to create different fonts.
