The US automobile manufacturer Ford Motor has applied its modern technologies to design a variety of exciting products from an anti-noise doghouse to a conveyor-belt-based bed. In recent days, the company has succeeded in bringing another initiative to its fans: A shopping cart that can itself brake.
Ford integrated a technology called Pre-Collision Assist into the new shopping cart to reduce some possible troubles when we go shopping at any supermarket. It is attached with a sensor that can identify any obstacle on its way and navigate on its own to move to a safe stop.
The shopping cart is especially suitable in some cases like when your children consider it a skateboard as well as when someone lets it run in the parking lot without any control.
However, many think that the US company seems rather unjust when saying accidents relating to shopping carts are mainly caused by children. According to Ford,
But in many cases, adults can also make mistakes like children. As a piece of evidence, some of us sometimes let trolleys loaded with goods free to float, even unintentionally crash into a parked car when we are looking for keys or are on the phone.
In the above video, the built-in sensor system proves its ability to work perfectly which allows the trolley to brake in time before causing any pity accident. It is clear that we won’t have any chance to test the great feature of the self-braking trolley on our own in the upcoming time. However, at least Ford has managed to introduce its new prototype as an impressive marketing strategy for the global market.
