Leaked Apple Silicon MacBooks' Benchmark Show Killer Performance Blowing Intel Away

Revealed by Apple Insider, the leaked Geekbench 5 is believed to belong to A14X – the enhanced version of A14 Bionic chip powering iPad Air 4 and iPhone 12

Apple’s third event for the very first Apple Silicon MacBooks is just a few days away and recently, a benchmark leak hinting at an impressive performance surfaced, providing us another reason to wait for the November event.

Revealed by AppleInsider, the leaked Geekbench 5 is believed to show the performance of A14X – the enhanced version of the A14 Bionic chip powering iPad Air 4 and iPhone 12. Many people think A14X is the one inside the first Apple Silicon MacBooks.

In the leaked Geekbench 5, the chip scored 1,634 and 7,220 in single-core and multi-core tests respectively. To put things into perspective, iPhone 12 Pro’s Geekbench 5 tests yield 1,595 for single-core and 3,880 for multi-core.

While the test scores aren’t official, if they hold true, we are looking at a real multi-core powerhouse that can blow Intel’s best chips away.

Intel 11th gen Core i7 chip powering the Dell XPS 13 scored 5,254 with Geekbench 5, far behind what A14X can do.

This power, combined with Apple’s optimization to macOS, can make for seriously powerful MacBooks.

There are problems with this combination though. Most of the apps running on macOS are compatible with the x86 architecture underpinning Intel and AMD processors. So if Apple wants to make these apps work on new Silicon MacBooks, the company will have to provide developers with means to reconfigure them for RISC.
