Apple Again Leads The Tablet Market With iPads; Huawei & Samsung On Decline

While Apple leads the tablet market in Q2 2019, Samsung and Huawei both saw a decline of 3.1 and 6.5 percent, respectively.

According to a recent report by the market research company IDC, Apple’s iPad still led the global tablet market in Q2 this year. It is not really a surprise since the iPad is considered as the best at its category. Despite efforts from Samsung, Huawei, and other brands, it is still not enough to dethrone Apple in the tablet industry. In Q2 2019, iPad sales saw an increase of 4 percent in comparison with the same quarter in 2018. However, the total sales of the global tablet market declined by 5 percent compared to the same period last year.

IDC states in its report that the tablet shipments dropped to 32.2 million devices in Q2 2019. Despite staying in the second position, Samsung is still behind Apple by a significant margin. Apple stayed in the first position, with 38 percent of market share in the market, which translates into around 12.3 million units sold in the quarter. Apple’s new iPad Air models also contributed to the increase in the company’s tablet shipments. The brand saw a year over year growth of 6.1 percent, but it is not the case for every iPad models as several of them saw a 7.5 percent decline.
