However, if there is any truancy, the smart technology will help teachers to find out them.

Following a string of smart products which have been continuously updated in the world, a new kind of smart uniforms has come to schools in southern China. With this technology, researchers want to help manage the attendance of students as well as reduce the truancy rate at these schools.

The tech company developing the device reveals that chips which are integrated into the uniforms can identify where the students are standing. Besides, all the data regarding the time when they go to or leave the school will be recorded.

According to Ran Ruxiang, a principal of the elementary school in Guizhou province, the smart uniforms track students by capturing their photos and videos when they come to the school. The school where Ran is working for has applied the advanced technology since November 2017.

When interviewed by the AFP, he revealed that there are more than 700 students at this elementary school putting on the smart uniforms every day.

On Thursday, the Global Times reported that the technology has been used at more than 10 schools in Guizhou and Guangxi, a province next to Guizhou.

They are not all features of these uniforms. To get it more efficient, the researchers designed a built-in voice alarm which can trigger automatically every time wearers leave the school without the teachers’ confirmation.

Besides, they can detect when students take off uniforms, as well as collaborate with other facial recognition units on school doors to enhance the controllability of the entry and exit into school.

According to the Global Times, Lin Zongwu, a school principal at Guizhou province said that teachers didn’t have any intention to follow the students’ accurate locations after they go out of the school. However, if there is any truancy, the smart technology will help teachers to find out them.

With the support of this high-tech product, the students’ attendance rate has shown the rising sign, but it is not actually high. Moreover, the principal from Guizhou province further said that the smart uniforms are used to inform students of homework and notifications via an application which is linked to the chips attached on the uniforms.
