Robotic Dishwasher Helps Restaurant Deal With A Shortage Of Dishwashers

These days, many restaurants are confronting a problem of dishwasher shortage. Since this is an unglamorous job with low wage, labor scarcity is inevitable. Fortunately, Dishcraft Robotics thinks that robots can take that place in the kitchen.

Recently, this firm has rolled out a new invention called a robotic dishwasher. This robot is programmed to wash a large number of dishes (about 100 dishes at a time) in restaurants or any commercial kitchen.

How Does It Work?

After customers stack their plates on a specialized cart, a staff will wheel it into the robot. Everything will be the robot’s task after then. It turns over the plates and sprays them with cold water to wash the surface off in just a few seconds. There will also an AI-guided camera scanning the dishes to check if they need another brush before heading to the plate rack.

Flexible Robotic Dishwashing Service

Just like other robots helping with the cleaning, Robotic Dishwasher is important for the current situation of any restaurant. Besides putting the robot out to lease and having them installed in the kitchens, restaurants could also take full advantage of Dishcraft’s service where they wash dishes off-site. Although the price has not been announced yet, this robot is surely not going to be affordable or practical for general households.

Growing Concern About Automation

This, on the other hand, has sparked much public concern over automation and job loss. Although not everyone likes washing dishes, it is still considered a job for many newbies and people who just need to get hired. However, Linda Pouliot - Dishcraft Robotics CEO and founder - stated that the labor shortage is gradually becoming a growing problem. Any other robot like this robotic dishwasher might be essential to simply make sure that clean dishes are always ready to be served. Otherwise, any reduction in labor costs is just a cog in the wheel.
