The riot police in Hong Kong have recently announced its plan to import the bulletproof body armors from Chinese manufacturers. Each suit is supposedly sold for $420.

The Hong Kong police have reportedly ordered ‘robocop-style’ armors in a bid to increase its ability to suppress protestors. This move is just one of their countless extreme measures. Manufactured by China, the anti-riot armors are designed to resist knife attacks, as well as bullets.

The riot police in Hong Kong have recently announced its plan to import the bulletproof body armors from Chinese manufacturers. This decision was given while the protests in Hong Kong didn’t show any sign of tension relief.

According to a report from Business Insider, this new kind of armors can protect wearers from injuries caused by flammable or sharp objects.

On August 27, Kong Wing-Chueng, the Senior Superintendent of the Hong Kong Police Force revealed that policemen who have faced pro-democracy protests in more than 12 weeks will be allowed to use these new armors.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Kong said, "As a responsible employer, we purchase any equipment that provides the best protection to our officers."

The Post reported that the number of the ordered suits reached up to 500. Two months ago, Britain ceased providing Hong Kong with teargas, as well as many other gears that are used to control protestors. And therefore, the riot police in Hong Kong seems to have no choice but to import these kinds of products from China.

Also, the Global Times confirmed the information mentioned above. Accordingly, the Chinese news listed the suits developers of Guangzhou Weifu Science & Technology Development, Guangzhou.

The Times added that Guangzhou Weifu Science & Technology Development has been providing protective gears for many other countries including Jordan, Morocco, Iraq, and Israel.

According to a secret source in the Hong Kong riot police, as cited by the SCMP, each suit is sold for $420. Meanwhile, Global Times believes that this new protective gear costs at least $670.

The netizens even compared the suits with a similar costume in a famous cyberpunk movie during the 1980s - RoboCop.
