These Exercises Can Reverse Aging And You Can Easily Do Them At Home

The exercises to reverse aging are so simple that anyone can do them without any equipment. We can even expect a de-aging drug soon

Acing in humans can cause dementia, heart diseases, and losing muscle mass. When people reach a certain age, their bodies cannot recover as quickly as they used to be anymore.

Previous research shows regular exercise can have an effect on slowing down this aging process. However, a newly released study suggests some exercise can have an even more wonderful impact on our body - reverse aging. So if the study is to believe, humans do not have to settle for getting old more slowly as they can actually get younger.

When scientists conduct a study on mice, they found out that aerobic exercise can not only slow down but also reverse aging in test subjects’ muscle stem cells needed for tissue regeneration.

On humans, aerobic exercise includes swimming, jogging, and cycling. And if the results are true to our bodies, these activities can help older people recover from injuries as quickly as the young do.

That is not all. This research can fuel a wave of studies on a drug that can de-age stem cells.

It is common knowledge that consistent exercise can improve humans’ healthspan and keep us disease-free for a few more years in our lives.

However, according to Thomas Rando, co-author of the research and Stanford University’s neurology researcher, this finding is different from what we know before. He explained it as reverse aging on a person who has already got old and suffered from diseases associating with old age.

The study reveals that by doing aerobic exercise, we can help old cells regain the properties of younger ones. To test their hypothesis, scientists gather old and young mice and let them run on running wheels for three weeks.

After that, the experts used a battery test to find out how the mice’s stem cells and muscles react to regular training on the running wheels.

The mice were allowed to run on running wheels in a course of three weeks

Results of the mice that have been running for three weeks were compared to those of another group that has no chance to exercise.

After one week into the test, the two groups of young and old mice got used to the habit of running around 10 kilometers and 4.9 kilometers respectively each night.

Random said on humans, the equivalence of running on wheels were consistent aerobic exercise like jogging, cycling, and running, not weightlifting or strength training.

After three weeks, the test subjects were cut off from the exercise habit. Scientists then injured some of their muscles to see if the vigorous period of training has any effect on their bodies and the pace at which their muscles rebuild.

The scientists also took stem cells from old mice and transplanted them to injured mice to see how the cells behave. donor cells from young mice formed larger and more fibers in bodies of injured mice. However, stem cells from old mice that had exercised for three weeks behave just like those taken from young ones. They form much more fibers than cells donated by old mice that did no exercise.

So in short, this study shows old mice that do aerobic exercises have a quicker repair of muscle tissues and better function of muscle stem cells.

One thing needs to be made clear here is that old mice do not have more muscle stem cells. What really happened is the older cells had been rejuvenated by three weeks of running. According to Rando, this phenomenon is like what happened to Benjamin Button, helping old mice regain the stamina of their younger selves.

However, after one week of no running, the effect disappears. So the lesson here is if you want to stay young longer and de-age yourself, consistent aerobic exercise is key.

Random said exercise can also help prevent diseases associated with old ages and make tissues function better. He explained that the idea here is older individuals would recover from injuries more efficiently and at a quicker pace, just like their younger selves, with regular exercises.

What surprised the scientists is that young mice do not seem to gain the same benefit. The team thought this is because the younger ones have already been at the best state possible, so running on wheels could hardly make them better than that. However, old mice with exercise appear to come back to that baseline after three weeks.

All of this miracle comes down to cyclin D1, a type of protein. When mice run, the level of this protein is restored in dormant stem cells, creating what we might call reverse aging.

Knowing the role of cyclin D1 means scientists experts could one day make drugs that de-age humans.

However, before that future comes, wait for more research to be conducted on humans to confirm the effect of exercises in reverse aging. In the meantime, remember to do more aerobic exercises, it may or it may not help you feel younger, but it is definitely beneficial to your overall health.
