Planning To Nuke Mars, Elon Musk Sells T-Shirts To Prove His Point

If you’ve been following tech news, the tech world has been hounding Elon Musk for the past few years. Some even went as far as saying he’s the real-life version of Iron Man, and we’re not saying that they’re wrong: The man has had some impressive achievements in tech in only a few short years.

But there are some who hates his social media antics and knacks for false, overblown promises. Still, no matter which camp you’re in, you can’t deny that he’s the owner behind some of the most transformative and revolutionary techs in the world at the moment. The one thing he could do that can immortalize him in history is that he could very well be the key to our civilization’s colonization of Mars.

And the first part of his plan, according to the t-shirts he has been selling, is that he wants to nuke Mars from orbit on the very first day of arriving at the planet.

Atomizing Mars

This has been his dream for a while now, of being able to take people to Mars. Musk started working on this grand plan with his founding of SpaceX - which has now become one of the most innovative and largest aerospace company in the world.

The plans are all sound, but there has to be an eccentric catch to it, as always when it comes to him: Once he got to Mars, Musk has a plan of bombarding the Red Planet with nuclear weapons.

He believes that if humanity wants to live on Mars, converting the planet to something similar to the Earth is a must. And, nuking the planet may be a helpful idea. It sounds like one big joke until he starts selling T-shirts that actually proved just how serious he was when he said he wanted to nuke Mars.

The Scientific Reasoning

When he said he wanted to nuke Mars, it wasn’t just some ill-thought-out diabolical scheme. The entirety of the idea was based on the fact that Mars has an extremely thin atmosphere - too thin for humanity to ever hope of having a chance to live on it comfortably. Something dramatic must be done first.

According to Elon Musk, the idea is to nuke Mars several times, especially in the polar regions. The nuclear blasts will release a tremendous amount of gas such as Carbon Dioxide. The influx of a massive volume of gas can ‘fatten’ up the atmosphere of Mars, making it denser and more suitable for terraformation. Although the initial atmosphere will still be toxic, the change can happen gradually over decades, even centuries to make it hospitable to human life.

Although the concept may sound like it was doable, many scientists and researchers are talking down onto the idea. Saying that there’s no amount of nuclear weapons that could release the volume of gas necessary to recreate Earth’s atmosphere. And the risks of nuclear fallout are too great and unpredictable to make it a safe venture.

In spite of the doubts and evidence, Elon Musk still believes that nuking Mars is the best strategy. At least, he is now selling T-shirts to his crazy plan.
