As a young artist and photographer in LA, Sam Morrison is passionate about producing artworks that provoke some outstanding thoughts.
During his school-time, he designed cards and silk-screen shirts with hidden compartments. After many years, almost all of his products focus on the digital field. However, a turn occurred last year when an exciting idea sprang to his mind: create flip-flops based on President Trump’s conflicting tweets.
At that time, Morrison was working all day for the advertising industry, and then he decided to begin his startup by making flip-flops. He conducted all vital processes by himself, from looking for materials, printing and packaging every pair of flip-flops.
On Sep. 5, 2017, he first sold his own flip-flops with a theme of the current US President, Donald Trump, on his website PresidentFlipFlops.com.
Up to 1,000 pairs were produced at that time.
In less than 30 days, there was no single pair of flip-flops in his warehouse.
Spending no penny on marketing strategies, Morrison's flip-flops have been globally well-known and gained interest from a lot of famous news agencies such as the BBC, Fortune, MSNBC, and HuffPost. Of course, they were also available on Reddit and Twitter.
With each successful purchase, Sam Morrison donated 10 per cent to the ACLU (or the American Civil Liberties Union).
As reported by Business Insider, his flip-flops were made as a limited edition because Morrison clearly put a lot of efforts into the production. In addition, complication is another notable issue.
He assumingly designed 03 flip-flop models that took inspiration from 03 sets of conflicting Trump tweets.
Here is the "Syria Edition" version.
In 2013, Donald Trumps posted a tweet saying that Barack Obama shouldn't attack Syria. Four years ago, in 2017, Trump launched the Syria attack.
The next version of Morrison's flip-flops is the "Electoral College."
In 2012, the current US President considered the Electoral College as "a disaster for a democracy" on his Twitter. In 2016, right after becoming the next President of the US, Trump said the 100% contradicting thing: The Electoral College now became "actually genius."
The last version of Morrison's flip-flops is the "Sources."
In 2012, on his Twitter, Trump said the birth certificate of President Obama was fake. He revealed the data collected from an "extremely credible source." In 2016, he kept making the US citizens surprised when saying that they shouldn't believe those who offer nameless sources.
With only three designs, each pair of Morrison's products, in 05 sizes, was sold for around $30. He stated that all of these flip-flops are "permanently sold out." That means you may not have a pair for your own.
Up to now, his products have been available in 47 states of the US. In the coming time, it is likely that Sam Morrison will bring more exciting flip-flops to the world.
