Gilbert Levin, an engineer of NASA who used to work on the Viking missions, believed that the space agency had found evidence of life on Mars.
In an article, Levin said that back then, two craft touched down on the surface of the planet and did some tests on to see if there was life on the red planet.
There was one test following what Louis Pasteur did to prove that microbes exist, had a positive result. The other craft conducted the same test at the distance 4,000 miles away, and the result came back the similar. According to Levin, the data curves suggest that the Red Planet may have microbial respiration. More importantly, the results are similar to those produced from tests conducted on Earth. From these similarities, he thinks that Mars truly has lives after all.
Here was what Levin said:
In the last 43 years, scientists were unable to conclude what the Viking mission found. However, if Levin was right, the next mission to send human to Mars, a planet that may have space germs, might have some potential threats. We do not know for sure if the astronauts returning from years-long mission to the Red Planet will not bring back viruses or germs that are unknown to our science. They may cause an outbreak of disease unlike anything we know on Earth, thus eradicating all lives on our planet. Or if you are in the mood for some wild imagination, these germs can make us superhuman with extraordinary strength.
If what Levin said is right, astronauts might bring back Mars disease which can kill everyone on Earth. So NASA had better think hard before it attempts anything.
