Mathematics, Biology, And Ideology Confirm That God Does Exist

The question of whether God exists has been troubling us for some time now. In the U.S alone, in 2014, 23% of the country’s citizens had no religious affiliation. Among these atheists, 33% said that they did not believe God exists at all.
Laws Of Math
Eugene Wigner, a Nobel Prize holder and a physicist at Princeton University put forward the question: Why the natural world always obeys the laws of mathematics.
Reuben Hersh and Phillip Davis, the two scholars, argued that mathematics existence has nothing to do with the physical reality. So mathematicians are the ones who must discover this separate world’s laws. And then physicists will apply mathematics following the rules of prediction as well as confirm the observation made by the scientific method.
However, our current mathematics was formulated even before any proper observations are conducted, so it means that several current mathematical laws we use today have no physical analogs.
Einstein’s general theory of relativity was only possible thanks to the theoretical mathematics made half a century earlier by Bernhard Riemann, a renowned German mathematician.
In some other cases, physics helps to discover mathematics. Newton is considered one of the greatest physicists and mathematicians of the 17th century and his mathematical law of gravity is actually based on his own discovery of calculus.
His finding faced lots of concern and questions at the time and he had spent the rest of his life trying to explain the inquiries. However, in the end, Newton has nothing else to prove but saying that it was the will of God.
Today, both physics and mathematics have had enormous advancement and yet nothing seems to change in this regard.
So far, with no other explanation, it might need the hand of God for us to understand the universe’s mathematical underpinnings.
Math And Other Worlds
Back in 2004, Roger Penrose proposed a universe making up of three worlds, human consciousness, mathematics, and the material world. However, he could not explain how these worlds interact with one another. The question here is, how physical molecules and atoms can create something makes sense in a separate domain without human consciousness.
It Is A Mystery That Lies Beyond Science
Plato, the ancient Greek philosopher, believed that abstract ideas exist outside of any physical reality. Humans’ experience of the physical world is actually the reflection of these ideas, whose realm is that of God, as stated by Ian Muller in Mathematics And The Divine.
In 2014, Max Tegmark, a physicist at MIT, said that mathematics is what drives the universe, in other words, math is behaving like God.
The Mystery Of Human Consciousness
Human consciousness, like mathematics, has no physical presence. There is no measurable dimension for our thoughts and the images in our brains. But that nonphysical thoughts are the ones guiding the physical human bodies. This is as hard to explain as to why the mathematical constructions determining how the separated physical world works.
When he was unable to reconcile the human consciousness’s nonphysical world with his scientific materialism, Daniel Dennett did something any radical scientists would have done, which was to deny the existence of consciousness.
Since none has been able to explain our own consciousness, this seems to give ground for the existence of God.
Evolution And Faith
From the 1970s, Stephen Jay Gould, an evolutionary biologist published a quite controversial view of punctuated equilibrium, to the gradual and slow evolution of the species, suggested by Darwin.
Back in 2011, James Shapiro, another evolutionary biologist shared his view that several micro-evolutionary processes operate pretty much like they are being guided by the sentience of the plants and animals themselves.
Others, like Francis Collins, the US National Institutes of Health’s director, said that one could believe in God and at the same time, accept the current belief of evolution.
As it turns out, the advancements in biology seem to confirm the existence of God rather than denying it.
Miraculous Ideas At The Same Time?
In the last 10,000 years, most of the vital changes in the existence of humans seem to stem from cultural developments in human ideas.
During the Axial Age, it appeared that ideas that have the power to change the world like Confucianism, Buddhism, Aristotle’s and Plato’s philosophies, as well as Hebrew Old Testament magically appeared at about the same time in China, India, Greece, and the Middle East. These groups had little to no interaction with each other.
It was the revolution in the mindset of humans that have driven the process of using scientific methods to advance the whole world. However, as explained before, humans’ consciousness and thoughts exist outside anything scientific materialism can explain.
All of the groundbreaking scientific findings all happen in the minds of the scientists, which means they happen outside of the physical reality.
Different Forms Of Worship
In 2005, David Foster Wallace said at Kenyon Collage that we all worship, the difference is the subject.
Alasdair MacIntyre considered Marxism the successor of Christianity, which shows the path to build a heaven on Earth.
In some other economic religions, the same thing seems true. So in the modern world, Christianity does not actually disappear, it just reappears in different forms.
So it seems like the question of whether God exists will remain unanswered for a long time, because, as it appears, mathematics, biology, and ideology all confirm there is a supernatural force behind everything.
