The Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman talked about the ban on e-cigarettes.

Accordingly, the decision has been made after many organizations in the United States point out that more and more youngsters have got attached to e-cigarettes.

For each e-cigarette use case, a violator will be sentenced to two-year imprisonment or have to pay a Rs 5 lakh fine, or worse, both of the punishment.

The Finance Minister added, "These e-cigarettes come in over 150 flavours, and it's become a fashion. The reason is it's odourless. However, the smoke that is exhaled by the users has a high-level of residual nicotine in it and those who passively inhale them are also affected."

As one of the participants of the meeting, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar asserted that the Government has had a timely step to prevent e-cigarettes. He noted, “This is a welcome step. Prevention is always better.”

However, on Twitter, Indians have expressed their doubt concerning this ban. Many even are curious about why the Government doesn’t ban both normal cigarettes and tobacco. It comes as no surprise that they have made fun of the Cabinet on the Internet.

Along with many other key decisions, the government of PM Narendra Modi announced the new ban on a variety of smoking devices such as e-cigarettes, e-hookahs, and vapes in the first 100 days of Modi 2.0.
